Match report

St Albans City visited Chesham on Saturday and there succeeded in capturing two Spartan League points from the Generals with very little difficulty. Owing to the fact that Chesham Town were at home on the same afternoon, there was only a small attendance.
After the recent frost and rain the ground was in heavy, treacherous condition; the ball quickly became coated with mud and anything like accurate kicking was out of the question. The pitch was fairly well covered with grass, but there were a number of bare patches where it was inordinately difficult to deal with the ball advantageously.
The City placed their usual team in the field with the exception that Price took Grimsdell’s place at left back. The Watford man was injured in the game against 2nd Coldstream Guards three weeks ago and broke down at Leytonstone the following Saturday. In view of the Amateur Cup-tie it was deemed advisable to run no risks by playing him on this occasion.
