As holders of the Herts Senior Cup, Letchworth Athletic were this year chosen to join the select of St Albans City, Barnet Alston and Hertford Town in the Herts Charity Cup. The reappearance of Grimsdell, Paul and Clark in the City team on Saturday brought about a great change in the form shown. When the eleven which did duty against Letchworth settle down, they should prove a very useful side. Although neither Grimsdell nor Brandham was seen at his best and Hammond was suffering from a temporary inability to utilise Hosier’s centres, there was a weak spot in the eleven. The Hosier-Lane combination was less prominent than in previous matches, but this was probably due to an improvement in the rest of the line. Considering that this was his first time out, C.Paul gave a good display and should become a more than useful centre-forward. Clark was in excellent form. Ably assisted by Meagher, Wingfield was about the most promising man on the field whilst Palmer is doing well as ever in his new position of right back. The St Albans goalkeeper(H.Smith) must have been pleased to see his younger brother(whose employment has taken him to the Garden City) doing well in the visitor’s forward line.
