Swansea-born striker who made one appearance for St Albans City under Steve Ketteridge on 29th January 1994. The duo had previously worked together at Crystal Palace. Lovell’s debut, a 4-1 Isthmian League defeat to Kingstonian at Clarence Park, lasted just 45 minutes before he was replaced by another debutant, Adie Bird. Lovell had picked up an injury in the opening minutes of the game.

A Welsh international, (six caps, one goal), he enjoyed lengthy spells with Crystal Palace (74 League appearances, 3 goals), Millwall (146/43) and Gillingham (233/94) but was also well travelled as he had short spells with Memphis Rogues, Stockport County, Swansea City, Bournemouth, Sittingbourne, Braintree Town, Barnet, Hastings Town, Gravesend & Northfleet, Weymouth, Tonbridge Angels, Deal Town and Ashford Town (Kent).

Since retiring from playing he has had spells as manager at a cluster of Kent clubs including Sittingbourne, Gravesend & Northfleet, Hastings United, Ashford Town, Gillingham (joint-caretaker), Bromley (assistant manager), Welling United, Ramsgate and Herne Bay.
