Following their performance on the previous Saturday, St Albans City obtained another two points in the Spartan League by defeating Tufnell Spartans at Clarence Park on Saturday. The ground was very heavy after the rains of the week to begin with and snow falling for the greater part of the match put it into a wretched state of slipperiness. Nevertheless, a fair-sized crowd saw some very good football. The City had two changes from the previous week’s team. Wiggs appeared at right back, as Hearn was unable to play and Whitworth took the inside-left berth. Soon after the game commenced the Spartan’s left half, L.W.Newman, sustained an injury which caused him to be carried off and prevented him playing for the rest of the match. The visitors, therefore, laboured under the handicap of being a man short practically all the game. Apart from a short period in the second half, the City were on top and attacking the whole time.
