“CITY’S ELEVENTH HOUR WIN”


This match took place at Castle Bar Park, West Ealing, before half-a-dozen spectators, the majority of whom were City supporters. The very light ball seemed to bother the players, especially the City forwards, who could not control the sphere with their accustomed ease and throw-ins were numerous. The wind played such weird pranks with the ball that heading it was well-nigh impossible and often players made ludicrous attempts to apply their heads to the sphere, only to see it suddenly whisked yards away from them. The City found the breeze a powerful opponent that hampered them in their efforts to advance. They kicked hard intio the teeth of the gale only to see the ball return after the fashion of a boomerang.
