During 142 games for the club he proved himself to be a versatile player who featured in most of the defensive and midfield positions, and on 30 March 1991 he even played in goal during a 3-3 Isthmian League draw at Barking.
Well known for a lengthy and highly successful career in local Sunday League football he worked his way through the ranks at Clarence Park playing for the Youth and Reserve sides before making his first team debut during a Herts Charity Cup defeat at Hitchin Town on 12 August 1989. Ended the season with runners up medals in both the Isthmian League Cup and Herts Senior Cup.
Probably his finest hour for the Saints came on 24 October 1992 when he played during a 4th Round Qualifying FA Cup victory away to Telford United – forty minutes before kick off he was sitting in the clubhouse drinking with supporters unaware that injuries were about to change his day.
That season saw him combine his playing with the position of Commercial Manager at Clarence Park.
